Extreme rain events, caused by changes in weather patterns and climate change, have become the new reality for many communities and households across the UK, and the numbers of properties at risk of flooding is predicted to increase.

Today’s sessions cover some of the key physical measures employed to reduce the risk and impact of flooding to infrastructure and buildings, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), Property Level Flood Resilience (PFR) and marine defences.

The seminars provide guidance on updates to codes and standards, recent exemplars and innovative solutions.

Principal Structural Engineer, Tony Jones from MPA The Concrete Centre will be discussing the changes to Approved Document B of the Building Regulations and the key content from the Draft Building Safety Bill. Tony will be followed in the second session by Tim Cansiz, Head of Standards Testing - Fire Protection Association discussing why the FPA supports a total ban on combustible building materials.
